The Fisheries and Marine Institute (MI) Alumni Award is to recognize an alumnus annually for their exceptional accomplishments. An alumnus who has earned national or international prominence as a result of their outstanding professional achievements and/or service to society and is an inspiration to the MI community and beyond. This alumnus’ accomplishments, reputation and character have by association enhanced the reputation of the Marine Institute. The award is open all alumni who have not previously received the Award and have graduated from an Academic Council or Senate approved program at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Definition of an Alumnus/a:
For the purpose of the MI Alumni Award, The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University uses the following definition:
An alumnus/a is defined as any individual who has received a degree, diploma, post-graduate certificate, or certificate requiring undergraduate or academic admission from the Fisheries and Marine Institute and/or Memorial University of Newfoundland including all predecessors. In all cases, the program of study must have been approved by the Senate of Memorial University or the Academic Council of the Fisheries and Marine Institute (or its predecessors).
Guidelines for nominations
The nomination period for the 2022 awarding is now closed. Nominations received May 3, 2022, onwards will be considered for the 2023 awarding.
